About eluriaNET
Who we are and what the name means...
The "we" is really a "me" actually. My name is Steve Cullen
and I'm a network administrator by trade. I jumped on the technology
bandwagon back in January of 1999, just before the Y2K "epidemic" hit.
(And I'm sure you noticed, absolutely nothing terrible happened on 01/01/00.)
I got my start working for a large financial organization maintaining
"dumb terminals" in a call center. From there I went on to a hospital
environment getting their network ready for the Y2K event. After that,
in mid 2000, I landed my first job as a network administrator and I've
been at it ever since.
As for the web portion of my background, I've been dabbling in HTML
since at least my first tech job (see above). My primary method has
always been raw notepad type coding, but that's expanding to "helper
software" to help achieve the look required by today's websites. Examples
of my work are easily furnishable (and found around the site). This website
is a good example of where my web mindset is at presently.
The other part of my "we" is Jamie Hudson. Jamie is my better half
and the brains behind the business end of this operation. Jamie is responsible
for the marketing and advertisement of this site and business.
Now... The name. Eluria is the name of a town from my favorite series
of books by Stephen King called "The Dark Tower". One of the offshoot short
stories is called "The Sisters of Eluria" and is about a town full of female
vampires. The name jumped out and just sort of stuck with me.
